Proverbs Daily Devotional: Day 22
“Drive out the mocker, and out goes strife; quarrels and insults are ended.”
Proverbs 22:10
I used to work for a company in the shipping and receiving department. The person who ran the warehouse was impossible to work with, and created an atmosphere so negative it was palpable. Upper management tried various ways to calm this person down and to help bring out the best in them, but nothing worked. Eventually, she was fired. She threw a fit and made a scene the day she was let go, but it was noticeably peaceful and quiet from that day forward. The atmosphere changed from one of oppression to one of optimism, and it became a much better place to work. Sometimes it is difficult to cut ties with toxic people for fear that their toxicity will overflow in one great outburst. But it is much more dangerous to have their ongoing toxicity day after day.
